What this site is
OnlineDebaters is a commentary site. It records public debates and publishes our opinion of how the participants argued. The editorial policy sets out what those opinions are based on and what they are not; it is part of these terms.
Nothing here is advice, a verification, an endorsement, or a statement about anybody's character, honesty or professional competence.
Using the site
You may read, link to and quote this site freely. You may not scrape it wholesale, republish it as your own, or use it to harass anybody listed on it.
If you have an account and submit a debate, you are telling us that the video is public, that you have the right to point at it, and that you are one of the people in it. We can review, edit or remove anything submitted.
Accounts are handled by JTS Accounts under its own terms. We can suspend access to this site for abuse without touching your account elsewhere.
Backing
A backing is a payment to the operator of this site, between €3 and €500, in EUR. It buys nothing: no goods, no service, no influence over any score, no removal of anything, and no say in who is listed.
What it does is put a name and an optional message on a public board, and keep the site running.
Payments are taken by Stripe. We never see your card details. We hold the amount, the name you chose to show, your message, and Stripe's reference for the payment.
Because a backing buys nothing, it is not refundable as a change of mind. Where the law gives you a right to a refund, or where a payment was taken in error or without authorisation, tell us and you will get it back. A refunded backing comes off the board and off the total.
We can decline or refund any backing, and we can remove a message from a board, without giving a reason.
What we do not promise
The site is provided as it is. Scores change, pages are edited, records are incomplete, and some of what is here will turn out to be wrong. Do not rely on it for anything that matters — hiring somebody, not hiring somebody, or deciding what kind of person they are.
We do not promise the site will be available, and embedded videos can vanish at any time because they belong to whoever uploaded them.
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for loss arising from relying on what is published here. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited — and nothing here affects the rights you have as a consumer.
If you are in something here
You have a right of reply, a route to a correction, and a route to removal. They are set out on the corrections page and you do not need a lawyer to use them.
Changes, and the law that applies
These terms can change. The date at the top of this page is when they last did. Carrying on using the site after that is how you accept the new ones.
These terms are governed by the law of TO BE FILLED IN. If you are a consumer, this does not take away the protection of the mandatory law of the country you live in, and you can still bring a claim there.
